CURLY HORSES ARE HYPOALLERGENIC!

Can it be real? A hypoallergenic horse? I spent many, many years wishing that horses could be part of my life but the reality of being severely allergic to horses prohibited the dream coming true. In 2002, a small seed of hope was planted in our lives when a neighbor mentioned her hypoallergenic curlies to me. After testing her curlies, we headed to N.D. to test more and came home with a weanling filly, Heidi, full of curls and personality. One of the most difficult facets of this venture is that curlies are few and far between, and many curly owners are new to horses resulting in a lack of trained horses on the market. That same winter we bought 2 more young curlies and the seed grew and grew. The original 3 horses, Heidi, Jack and Rascal are now trained and ridden frequently, along with Breeze, the only broke curly we bought, so now everyone has a horse to ride. In addition, we have several young curlies in various stages of ground and saddle training. The horses are a part of our family, each with their his/her own personality and quirks. There is no better scene than the herd grazing in the pastures next to the house. It is hard to imagine our lives without them.

About Curly Horses

Heidi was a bundle of curls as a weanling. Proof that 2 curly parents are not necessary to get a very curly offspring. Heidi and Willow, only 12 hours old.
